Mount Hutt College Methven offers a wide curriculum at senior level, preparing students for all New Zealand Secondary School Qualifications.  It has an excellent academic record.  Senior courses are available in Accounting, Agriculture, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Economics, English, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Geography, History, Home Economics, Information Management, Languages (by correspondence or tutorial situation), Mathematics - with Statistics and Calculus, Music, Outdoor Education, Physical Education, Physics, Science, and Technology.

The emphasis at Mount Hutt College Methven is on the individual needs of each student.  The college has a well-structured pastoral care system to give assistance and support to all students. Students develop the skills and attitudes to be successful in their future lives. As a small secondary school with small class sizes students receive individual attention and are well known by all staff. The college promotes excellence in all aspects of student activity and the staff and students are proud of the high standards achieved.

For students with lower levels of English the College offers special support for International Students in an extended ESOL programme, which includes English language, New Zealand culture, preparation English exams and support for learning in other subjects.
