Mount Hutt College is located in the growing mid-Canterbury town of Methven. Methven is set in a patchwork of fields, with the rugged Southern Alps and the popular Mount Hutt skifield to the northwest.
The town of Methven is within easy distance of Christchurch (1 hour), Ashburton (20 minutes) and the skifield of Mount Hutt (10 minutes).
The township of Methven has been the community hub for the surrounding rural district since the 1800s. Employment in the area centred on working the land or in industries servicing farming. In recent years there has been a growth in recreational and tourist activities.
