We have many talented musicians, who have many opportunities to play or sing in musical groups. Our newly extended music facilities give these students first class facilities.

School Exchanges
An opportunity for New Zealand and overseas experience exists as well as local hosting, usually though the A.F.S. and short-term Lions schemes.

Spirit of Adventure Sailing
We encourage participation on the sailing training vessel "Spirit of Adventure". The costs involved are sometimes partially subsidised by the local Lions Club.

Academic
Mount Hutt College involves itself in many extension activities and competitions.

Sport
Sport is seen as an important part of the school's curriculum. The school has extensive sports grounds, facilities and a well-equipped gymnasium. The gymnasium was extended in 2009 and is now full-sized.

All students participate in the weekly sports period and a wide range of sports and activities is offered including:

Skiing and Snowboarding
Mount Hutt Skifield is on our doorstep and we take full advantage of this.

In term 3, Wednesday sport includes skiing and snowboarding options. this is open to all students.
One Annual full day ski trip per year is offered to all students.
